Field Trip #2

I was very proud of the great behavior the class showed at the Sheldon today. And nothing but the best for us- front row seats!

Thank you so much Drew and Jennifer Abercrombie for the awesome lights and decorations for the holidays!  Here we are enjoying them during a math review.

They are WONDERS

We had a WONDERful first field trip to see Wonder today. What a great message this book and film teach. We did some reflecting today and wrote about ways that each one of these students is also a WONDER!

We were excited to have the loungers!  I don’t think these kids know how good they have it!  Remember before stadium seating, parents?!

Great first field trip and we are back at it tomorrow with a music trip!

Award-Winning Writing

We had a great celebration of our essay unit this morning. Students were able to share their writing and recognize each other’s writing and their strengths such as best leads, good use of transitions, and strong endings.

We also put our dramatic skills to the test with a reading of Robbie and the Thanksgiving Spirit. (Similar to a Christmas Carol). Happy Thanksgiving!

Long Division Time!

Today we started long division in math. We are using the phrase "Does McDonalds Serve CheeseBurgers Rapidly" to help us remember the steps.  We will practice long division for the next few weeks before we try to test. This is definitely a skill that takes a lot of practice and we work at it daily. Good news parents- long division has not changed since we were kids!

The Rock Cycle Rocks!

Today in science we modeled the rock cycle using Starburst candy. We started with sedimentary rocks. Then we applied heat and pressure to form metamorphic rocks. Finally we melted our rocks and then allowed them to cool to make igneous rock.

Researching in Reading

We are reading and researching about weather disasters in reading. Students are reading passages and determining the text structure before they take notes. We will use these notes in a slide presentation for the class.
