What a fun day!  We had a great old fashioned Christmas party with many fun activities.  Students also finished their snowman construction projects today. Have a great break and see you in 2017!

Today we had our personal narrative writing celebration. We invited a third grade class to come in and see our writing and they shared their informational reports with us. It was great to see the students share their hard work!

Today we did a cooperative activity in math working for a snowman construction company.  They had to create a snowman staying within certain weight and dollar guidelines.  They also had to use their division skills to convert ounces to pounds. Final products coming Monday!

Look at the book club pros we have here!  I love all the thinking on their post-it notes they bring to group. They are doing a great job leading the conversation. 


They are also taking off with the Mark Twain nominees. We share our reviews in class.... 


How lucky are we to have our principal come and read to us today too!  Great day of reading!

Today we celebrated our persuasive essays. The students were in groups and in each group they gave awards for different parts of their writing such as best lead, good use of transitions, and endings.  Their essays look great!

Attract or repel?
In science we gave some ballooons a negative charge and tested out some items to see if they would attract or repel each other.  Ask your fourth grader to sing our charge it up song for you!

Dynamic Dividers!  We have come a long way in these two days of division!  Yesterday many were on the verge of tears, but today I'm hearing cheers!  They are doing a great job with long division!

Veterans Day

We started our day with a Veterans Day assembly. 
Students also presented their weather disaster google slides to the class. They did a great job taking notes from a nonfiction text and then using those notes in their slides. 
We also had a birthday today!

Thank you for all the donations to Helping Hands!  We have a very generous class as you can see with all these Jammies!
We also spent time celebrating their awesome opinion essays. Students were able to read essays in two other fourth grade rooms as well.

Today we started to multiply 2 digit numbers. We used two different strategies. One is making a model using partial products. The other is the traditional algorithm and we called it the turtlehead method. Have your child show you the method tonight!
We also practiced synthesizing texts today in reading.
