Woo Hoo- it's Kahoot!

Today we used a fun website to help review for our social studies test.  It is called Kahoot and the class had fun while studying.  Don't forget the test is tomorrow!

Red Ribbon Counseling

Today Mrs. Critchlow got the class all ready for Red Ribbon Week next week.  There is a flyer coming home explaining the daily themes. Cookie dough sales have also been extended another day.

Multi-Digit Multipliers

We worked on multi-digit multiplication today and the students are using rounding to estimate if their answer is correct. They are quite the multipliers!

Taking Notes!

In reading we have been reading nonfiction and our goal is to read to learn. This week students are working in research teams and taking notes on different weather disasters. Today we learned about using the text structure to help with note taking.

Half Day


While we were only at school for half of the day we sure were busy!  We had an assembly, an all school picture, time with our buddies, some reading and social studies, ending with a visit from Mrs Knehans' bearded dragon!

Today we painted the different regions of Missouri on our maps. Once we label them and make a map key they will come home!

Missouri's Neighbors

Today we looked at the states that border Missouri- there are a lot of them!  We are adding them to our salt maps. Tomorrow we will paint!

We shared our completed Missouri brochures today. The students learned about all of the regions and each shared with the class an interesting fact they learned.

In writing we are working on adding more details and expanding on what we are saying. We used the "ways to push our thinking" chart today to help prompt us to give more details.

We started our salt maps of Missouri today. They look great and hopefully if they all dry this weekend we will paint on Monday.  They also looked great in all their Cardinal red!  Of course we had to take a selfie!

Hip Hip Hooray! Let's Write an Essay!

Today we started to write essays. The anchor chart below shows how we are structuring our paragraphs. Today we started wth a general topic- I love ice cream. We came up with reasons in class and then did a flash draft of the topic. They did great!

Math and Reading

Today we looked at factors and multiples in math. We made factor rainbows to help us learn the factors for numbers. In reading we are starting to learn how to read nonfiction to LEARN not just "reading at the dentist office". Today partners started to preview books looking at text features.

Learning how to Focus!

We were so lucky to have Austin's mom, Mrs. Thomas, visit our class today. She helped the students with some activities to help their focus. They also got to smell and learn about some essential oils.
