Finished Projects and Division

Look at these awesome ecosystem projects!  Students had to choose an ecosystem and make a poster with living things found in that ecosystem. They had to include a food chain as well and describe an adaptation of an animal found there.

We also looked at a new strategy in math using repeated subtraction to help us solve division problems.

Buddy Time!

Today we met with our first grade buddies from Mrs. Boyd's room. We had a lesson about being proactive vs. reactive.  We had the example of a soda bottle and a water bottle. We shook up both bottles and talked about how the soda can be like a reactive reaction- it explodes!  We ended with a fun buddy brain break!

Reading and Rounding

We continue to practice rounding in math. Today we worked on finding the sum of two different numbers and using our rounding skills to check. One rhyme we have been using in class is "5 or more raise the score. 4 or less let it rest."

In reading we have been talking a lot about the characters in our stories. We are thinking about their struggles and motivations using common texts such as our read aloud and also independent books.
