Two Fun Activities

Today we had not one but two special activities!  We were so lucky to have Mrs. Thomas (Austin's mom) come in and do a fun lesson. Students worked in groups to problem solve and we also talked about goal setting. Then we had our last Lewis and Clark lesson. We finished with a party playing Louisiana Purchase bingo and had some goldfish and popcorn.

C- call a friend, A- accept what you cannot change, R- reframe how you think about the situation, E- encourage a friend.

Author Study

Today we started studying different authors. Each student is in a group looking at characteristics of the author. We will be comparing characters in the books, as well as looking for common plots and themes. We've read two Peg Kehret books for read aloud this year and that has really helped get us started thinking about authors and their craft.

Coding and Pretzels

Today we spent some time using the website code.org. I am so impressed with how quick they are learning this. They make it look easy!  You should have your fourth grader teach you this weekend!  Mrs. Nieman also brought some yummy pretzels in for meeting their goal with Helping Hands. Next goal- 400 items!
