Giving S'More Compliments
Today we celebrated great writing in our narrative fiction unit. We had a campfire going on the whiteboard and wrote compliments on paper s'mores. Too bad they were not the real thing!

Intense Readers
Aaah...I love the 2:00 hour. This class is doing a great job sticking with their books and reading quietly while waiting for their reading groups. Makes me so proud to see all these readers so focused!

Native American Posters
We have been working hard on posters showing the different regions Native Americans lived. On Thursday students will share their posters with the class for the region in which they are now an expert.
We are Family!
On Monday we focused on fact families in math using multiplication and division. We also are learning new vocabulary such as quotient, dividend, divisor, factors, and product. We will be using these vocabulary terms throughout the next few chapters.

Dot Day
Did you know today is International Dot Day? Dot Day is a day to encourage creativity inspired by the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. After working so hard on the math test we had a little fun with Dot Day!

Buddy Time with First Grade!
Today we met our first grade buddies in Mrs. Boyd's class. The buddies worked on a quilt piece that will be displayed in the school that represents them. We are also lucky to have Mrs. Bachelier join our group as well.

Growing Ideas About Characters
We have been focusing on characters in reading. We have been looking for patterns that an author repeats and why the author decides to do that with their characters. We are discussing characters in both our mini lessons and in guided reading groups.

Rounding Round Up!
Today we looked at problems and estimated the sums or difference by rounding. Students rounded to different place values and then either subtracted or added to find their estimate.

Show Me Missouri
Today we painted the different regions of Missouri on our salt maps. We will finish up the maps later this week labeling our border states, rivers, and state capital.

Salt Map FUN!
Today we started to make salt maps of Missouri. We have been studying geography in social studies and our map is the final assignment of the unit. Next week we will paint the different regions of Missouri and label major rivers and cities.
