Debate Preparations
In reading we are researching and taking notes on the causes of the American Revolution. Half the class are loyalists and half are patriots. They will debate whether the colonies should leave Britain next week.

In science we are learning about current electricity. Today we started stations learning about different types of circuits as well as insulators and conductors.

Adding Fractions
Today we worked on adding fractions with like denominators. We looked at fraction tiles fo get a visual and they all got it! The tricky part is reducing to simplest form. Remember to find he GCF- greatest common factor.

Ability Awareness
We had a great morning learning about different abilities during our Ability Awareness Day. Students learned about autism, visual impairments, and Down syndrome. The students learned a lot and they were very good listeners!

Buddy Time
Today we met with our first grade buddies and learned about each other. We made Venn diagrams looking for similarities and differences in each other.

Looking at a Mentor Text
Today we looked at a mentor text (an example) showing us what an informational report will look like. Students analyed the writing looking at both text structure as well as the type of writing. Next week they will begin to write about the American Revolution.
There is a very important note coming home. Muffins with Mom is next Friday!

Hat Day and Static Electricy

Divisibility Rules
Today we looked at finding factor pairs and multiples of numbers. Some of the numbers we looked at were larger numbers and knowing the divisibility rules will help.

Happy New Year!
We had a great first day back. We set some goals for this year and did a cooperative group activity in math. It was a great day to be back!
We had a fun winter math project using both weight and money. Converting ounces to pounds was tricky stuff!
