Writing and Science

We had another great day!  In writing we have picked story ideas and started to work on developing character's internal and external traits. 

We also started science today. We are learning about ways to classify animals. 

First Buddy Meeting!

Today we met with our first grade buddies from Mrs. Boyd's room. Many of our students had Mrs. Boyd in first grade so they were excited to see her again. Today we got to know our buddies and started a paper doll project with them.  We meet with them each month.

First Library Day

We had our first library visit today. Thursday will be our scheduled day so please try to make sure those books come back on Thursdays. The class was excited to hear about this year's Mark Twain nominees. 

We're on a Mission!

Today we wrote a class mission statement showing what we believe in our classroom. We started with each individual answering questions such as "What are we here to do?" and "How are we going to do this?" Then each group came together and combined their answers into one. After each group had an answer we combined the most important themes we continued to see as a class and wrote our mission. 

Writer's Notebooks and Math

What a crafty group!  They did a great job decorating their writer's notebooks in class. Hopefully they will feel inspired to write when they look at them!  

We also spent some time learning about math stations and had an introduction to some of the math games we will use this year in math. 

Smarties!

Today we did a strength finder looking at all of the things we are good at. We learned that we all have special talents and abilities. Some of us are number smart, while others excel at art and people skills. We learned a lot about each other! Below are some of our earlier finished products. 

Second Day!

We had another great day of school. We used the iPads to go on a scavenger hunt of the classroom, explored the class library and had some reading time, and our first assembly. Each student also got a new shirt today with a color to represent their grade. We will wear these shirts to future assemblies. Have a great weekend!

First Day!

We had a great first day!  We had fun doing some get to know you activities and learning about fourth grade. We are going to have an awesome year!
